CANDLE LIGHT SERVICE-2014

To celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ the Isabella Thoburn College Choir presented Christmas Cantata at 5:00 pm on December 17, 2014 in the College Auditorium. Sixty eight voices of our College Choir filled the air with songs that evening and presented a soul-stirring rendition of Christmas music. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Akhilesh Yadav.

The service was started with Invocation. After the Invocation our Principal Dr. V. Prakash invited the Chairman of our College Bishop Dr. Phillip S. Masih to welcome the chief guest and to invite him for the lighting of the College lamp. A heart touching Christmas message of love, joy and peace was given by Bishop Dr. Masih. The central theme of his message was to reveal God’s divine plan to send His Son on the earth for our salvation.

President of our College Dr. E. S. Charles then invited the Chief Minister Shri Akhilesh Yadav to unveil the tablet of the new building of hostel for the college students. In his address to the august gathering the Chief Minister emphasized that the country’s identity and its biggest strength lies in its cosmopolitan and secular nature.

It is important for us to keep the country united and spread the message of peace, brotherhood and love. He also highlighted the commendable work done by the missionaries in establishing Educational Institutions in India and assured the college for providing all possible help in case of any need in future. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his MP wife Mrs. Dimple Yadav and two daughters, to mark the occasion a Christmas cake was also cut by the Chief Minister’s family.

The choir then presented the Christmas Cantata ‘I will follow Him’. The music presentation was accompanied on the Piano by Abigail Odyuo, on the Keyboard by Adriana Michael and Mrs. Karuna Masih, on the Guitar by Ezono Yanthan and on the Drums by Anugrah Dhulia. All choir members were beautifully dressed in white Sarees with a red sachet. The whole atmosphere was filled with the spirit of Christmas.
